Jira Cloud integration for PI Planning
Plan your Program Increment in Kendis while every epic, feature, story, sprint and dependency stays in Jira Cloud. Changes sync both ways in real time, so the plan and the backlog never drift apart.

How to connect Jira Cloud to Kendis
About fifteen minutes for an admin.
Add an ALM account
In Kendis, go to Settings, ALM Accounts and add a Jira Cloud account, or create it while you set up a new board.
Enter URL and API token
Use your Jira URL, email and an API token; Jira Cloud no longer accepts passwords. Then test the connection.
Check the webhook
Kendis creates the Jira webhook when the user has System Admin or Super Admin rights; otherwise an admin creates it manually.
Bring in the work
Create a board and fetch features with a Jira filter or JQL, and choose the link type that connects their stories.
Map team sprints
Map each team to its Jira project, board and sprints, then start planning.
What syncs between Kendis and Jira Cloud
Synced both ways
- Epics, Features or any parent issue type, chosen with a Jira filter or JQL
- Stories linked by Epic Link, Parent Link or any Jira link type
- Sprints, mapped per team to a Jira project and board
- Dependencies as Jira issue links
- Summary, key, status, sprint and story points, plus up to 5 extra fields for features and stories
- Start and end dates for features and stories
Good to know
- Prefer no API keys? The Kendis app on the Atlassian Marketplace connects through Jira Connect
- Each user can add a personal API token, so changes show under their own name in Jira
- Stories appear only when they are linked to a feature on the board
- A Jira link type is used either for dependencies or for parent and child, not both
- Without the webhook, boards need a manual resync to pick up Jira changes
