Azure DevOps integration for PI Planning
Plan your Program Increment in Kendis while features, user stories, iterations and dependency links stay in Azure DevOps. Changes sync both ways in real time through service hooks.
- Two-way, real-time sync
- PAT or OAuth
- EU or US hosting

How to connect Azure DevOps to Kendis
About fifteen minutes for an admin.
Create the board
In Kendis, create a board and choose Azure DevOps as its type.
Add URL and token
Add your Azure DevOps organisation URL and a personal access token, or set up OAuth, then test the connection.
Load projects
Load one or more projects; Kendis reads their statuses and work item types and creates a service hook for each.
Bring in features
Fetch features with an Azure DevOps query or WIQL. Linked stories come in with them.
Map teams and iterations
Map each team to its project, team, area path and iterations, then start planning.
What syncs between Kendis and Azure DevOps
Synced both ways
- Features or any parent work item type, chosen with a query or WIQL
- Linked child work items such as user stories
- Teams mapped to a project, team, default area path and iterations
- Dependencies as link types such as Successor and Predecessor
- Estimate and due-date fields, mapped per project
- Statuses and work item types from more than one project
Good to know
- Each user can add a personal PAT or OAuth token, so edits show under their own name
- OAuth setup needs Azure DevOps admin privileges
- If the token owner cannot create service hooks, add a Work item updated webhook for each project
- An expired or revoked token locks the board until it is replaced
- Group the board by ADO team using area paths
