1. Introduction to Charlie – Kendis AI
Kendis provides structure for PI planning, execution, dependencies, risks, objectives, and reporting, and the AI aims to add context where scaling begins to lose the bigger picture provided by ALM tools like Jira or ADO as well as Scaling models such as Scaled Agile Framework. AI journey in Kendis starts with assisting in the creation of PI Objectives.
Objectives Creation
Users can generate objectives using AI (Charlie) within the objectives area in Kendis, eliminating the need to copy and paste features into external tools like ChatGPT.
The AI can automatically group features based on relevance and provide titles and descriptions.
Users can customize the objective style (e.g., outcome-focused or delivery-focused) and descriptive level (descriptive or compact).
The AI can generate titles in one language (e.g., Spanish) and descriptions in another (e.g., English), based on additional guidance provided by the user.
The AI populates the objectives within Kendis, eliminating the need to copy and paste from external AI tools.
PI Planning Report
It uses contexts from the PI plan to generate a plain-English report that explains what was planned, what matters most, and where attention is needed, without requiring detailed knowledge of the planning process.
This report includes an executive summary which includes
- Health and Planning Quality (with an AI score and justification
- Decisions needed before first sprint
- Dependency Analysis (simplifyng numbers into human language
- Risk Analysis (showing statuses and listing high-risk items)
- Recommended Planning Actions
Other Sections Include:
High-level numbers such as the number of teams involved, planned/unplanned features, and carryovers and highlights areas needing attention
Breakdown of Teams specific planning including AI insights
Analysis of Planned Objectives
The report can be filtered, and the AI-generated part will update based on those filters. And it can be exported as a PDF.
2. Upcoming Functionalities
Risk Analysis
Users can describe a risk scenario in natural language, and Charlie AI will propose a title, description, mitigation actions, and suggest probability and impact. It also offers an “Analyze” option to provide a detailed analysis of an existing risk, including its status, history, and work items
Dependencies Creation
Charlie AI can provide a summary and description for dependencies based on the feature, story, iteration, and team involved. This description will be visible in the Kendis extension in Jira and ADO.
Collab Boards
Template Builder: Users can dynamically create templates (e.g., SWOT analysis, brainstorming sessions) using AI based on a description.
Sticky Note Interaction: AI can be used within sticky notes to translate, rewrite, or respond to custom prompts.
AI Analysis: Users can ask Charlie to create a summary, action points, notes, or a retrospective analysis of the board’s contents.
OKR Report
This feature is expected to be released soon as a new layer called “Themes and Portfolios” for creating a higher-level strategy. It provides a portfolio-level dashboard showing average completion, velocity, and overall health across all strategic themes.It features a Tree View to navigate the entire hierarchy from portfolio/themes down to objectives and key results.
The single theme view allows users to generate an AI summary, which can be copied to a clipboard or added to updates. It automatically calculates health statuses like “on track” or “delayed”.
3. Future Platform Enhancements
Team Collection/Team as an Entity
This enhancement will create a team entity to align people, calendars, capacity, and historical data. It allows for defining the team’s purpose to provide AI with context for more accurate output. Capacity management will automatically deduct story points based on members’ calendars and days off. Features include Sprint Demos/Review for gathering and actioning feedback via a QR code.
Batches Enhancements
Batches are flexible containers for products or projects, providing additional context for AI..
Users can track finances, create roadmaps, and define phases for items/sub-batches.
AI inside batches will provide a summary of what is happening to that specific product or project
4. AI Availability and Tokens
Availability
Kendis AI is currently only available to Orview users..
Enabling AI
Super Admins must enable AI in the AI Tokens Configuration screen. Users will need to accept the terms and conditions on the first page when enabling AI.
Tokens
Kendis provides a number of complimentary tokens to start using the AI. These complimentary tokens are calculated for the whole subscription duration. Once complimentary tokens are exhausted, users can purchase more via the purchase button or by contacting the sales team. Roughly one token is used for generating one objective from three or four features. The cost is $10 for 25,000 tokens.
